Team robbed during match

GARDAI are investigating a robbery that occurred in one of the Athboy dressing rooms on Sunday afternoon.
The robbery took place in the Wolfe Tone’s dressing room during the Round 3 Senior football Championship clash between Summerhill and Wolfe Tones.
An estimated €1,400 was stolen by the thief(ves). Wolfe Tone’s Secretary Michael Carr says however, that the dressing room had been locked when the team left to play the match. He also stipulated that the team remained on the playing field throughout the half-time interval.
In addition to cash been stolen, a number of players also had their mobile phones swiped in the raid. Luckily, some players left their belongings in their cars.
It is unclear as to whether the door was forced in.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have any information on the matter to come forward.
