A MAN whose remains were found on a green space in a suburban housing estate in Finglas on Friday morning has been named as 21 year old Maurice Martin with an address in Navan.
Mr Martin’s body was discovered at the junction between Cardiffsbridge Road and Tolka Valley road by a taxi driver who alerted the Gardai just after 5am on Friday June 12.
Gardai found Mr Martin lying in a pool of blood having been stabbed repeatedly in the neck and chest. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A spokesperson for the GardaĆ believe he had been involved in a fight in the early hours of the morning, which resulted in a sustained knife attack.
Mr Martin had lost a lot of blood at the scene. It is believed that he may have climbed over a number of garden walls, before collapsing on the green area where he was found.
Martin was found near the former house of slain gangster Paul “Farmer” Martin. It is not known yet whether the victim was related to the dead crime boss.
A murder inquiry is now underway. As of yet no arrests have been made.
If anyone has any information regarding the two murders then they are asked to contact Finglas Garda Station on 01 66 77 500.
