A nasty video of Navan schoolchildren and teenagers locked in brutal
fights has been posted on the internet. The sickening video was posted
onto the popular website YouTube last week and shows 17 clips of
vicious brawls involving youths of different ages.
The footage was captured on mobile phones by spectators crowding round
the youths as they punched, kicked, grappled and head-butt each other.
In one clip a frightened youth is shown failing to protect himself
from a head butt. The disturbing video sequence comes to an end as a
youth is floored by a knee to the head.
The sinister posting, entitled Navan Boyz, is accompanied by
high-tempo dance music with the lyrics, “this is the way we like to
f**k”, and was posted by a web-user under the name Farrellman07. He
describes the 1minute, 42 second of violence as “the best of the best
from Navan.”
Some of the brawls appear to take place in school grounds, and involve
youths in uniforms, though they cannot be identified because of the
grainy quality of the footage. The Meath Post has contacted YouTube to
request them to remove the Navan Boyz video, and reported the video to
Navan GardaĆ.
The sergeant in charge gave assurances that they would try to notify
the schools and parents of the children involved.
